Last National Day holiday, I want to Ji Nan. Qin Huangdao is my hometown. I considered that these two cities are very good. Any one city has its characteristic; Ji Nan and Qin Huangdao are different among geography, tourism and basic facilities.
Two cities have its characters of geography. Within China, Ji Nan is located the north-western part of Shan Dong province. Ji Nan is very hot in summer and many sandstorms in spring. It is a sub-provincial city and the capital of Shan Dong province, so Ji Nan is a big city. It administers 10 county-level divisions, including 6 districts, and 1 county-level city and 3 counties; the population is more than 6 million. However, Qin Huangdao lies in the northeast of He Bei province. It is famous in China for ice-free port and tourist attractions because it is cool in summer and warm in winter. Qin Huangdao is a small city, the population number of 2.8 million, and it is only made up of 3 districts and 4 counties. The area is only equal to one fifth of Ji Nan.
Two cities have nothing in common with each other in tourist aspect. Ji Nan ia a inland city. Its spring water is very famous all over the world. It is glorified as the “spring city” for its numerous springs. Bao Tu spring is the best one among the famous 72 springs in Ji Nan. Otherwise, Qin Huangdao is a coastal city. The sea and the Great Wall are well-known. The long seashore is flat and soft, and the water is clean and limpid. The First Pass Under Heaven and the starting point of the Great Wall-Lao Long Tou are both good tourist places.
Appearances and facilities of city are different between Ji Nan and Qin Huangdao. For a capital city, there are not lots of high buildings in Ji Nan, and basic facilities are inferior to Qin Huangdao, especially most sub-main roads are so boring! I thank the roads are uncomfortable in that Shan Dong are abundance of hilly regions, and the terrain up and down. Due to many people in Ji Nan, some parts of appearances of the city are dirty and bustle. In contrast, every summer, leaders of the Party and national government will come to Qin Huangdao to recuperate and be away for the intense heat of summer (Bei Jing is too hot!), so basic facilities of Qin Huangdao are excellent. There are not only lots of buildings, but many villas along the seaside. The roads extend in all directions and even. It is a peaceful, harmonious and tidy city.
